About this blog

If you're looking for me to brag about how cute my kids are (which they are) or talk about how much weight I did or didn't lose this week, you are in the wrong place! I have a Facebook account for that. This blog is about the blunt truths of parenting, tips and tricks of the trade, some addicting mommy junk and all the other disgusting hilarity that ensues when you have kids...especially two kids only 12 months apart like myself.

Easter: Peep Crispie Treats

After seeing a cute post on Dream Plan Live and Love from the Oven involving Peeps used in treats, I decided I had to give it a whirl. I don't enjoy working with melted chocolate unless I'm feeling super brave or crafty because it never seems to work out for me.

Ok, so here are my Peep Crispie Treats and how to make them!

Follow the Original Treats Recipe for making rice crispie treats. We do the microwave version.

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package (10 oz., about 40)  regular marshmallows
- OR -
4 cups   miniature marshmallows
6 cups   Rice Krispies

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Boo spilled some marshmallows and Bubbi beat him to the mess!

4.  After pressing the treats into your tray and allowing them a minute or two to cool, dump them onto a cooking spray covered sheet of tinfoil (or wax paper if you're cool like that).

5.  Using a round cookie cutter or the top of a cup (sprayed heavily with cooking spray), quickly cut out circles and press your Peeps into the middle. Then reshape with your hands. Do this quickly as the treats harden as they cool. No pics...too busy racing the clock.

And then you're done! Put them on a cute plate or wrap them up and place them in a basket like I did. Super easy Easter Peep Crispie Treats!

I just made them! I'm eating all the extra treats though so that's not good but the kids will love these.
